It is the main botanical garden in France. Three hectares are devoted to horticultural displays of decorative plants. An Alpine garden has 3000 species with world-wide representation. Specialized buildings, such as the Orangerie and the Mexican and Australian hothouses present regional plants, not native to France. The Rose Garden has hundreds of species of roses and rose trees. There's also a zoo, the oldest in the world called "Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes".

Walk in the park to the top of a small hill frop where you will enjoy a nice view of the area. This is a really great place to have a break!

The Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle is located by the park. It contains exhibits of paleontology, paleobotany, mineralogy and entomology. Most interestingly — especially if you travel with children — its Grande Galerie describes the evolution of animals through models and other exhibits.
